Gary O'Neil's final act as head coach was to strip Mario Lemina of the armband and hand it to Nelson Semedo, following Lemina's outburst after the loss to West Ham.

Pereira has now taken the reins at Molineux but when asked if Semedo will remain his captain, after being skipper for just one game, the head coach said he is still to make a final decision.

"Nelson is a very good boy and a very good personality," Pereira said.

"Now, I am trying to understand where our leaders are on the pitch because that's important.

"For now, I am studying. It's not time to decide, it's time to study and get information.

"I will decide the captain."

Pereira's first match comes quickly on Sunday, in a crucial relegation clash at fellow strugglers Leicester.

Taking over a team in disarray, the Portuguese boss is keen to impose his style of play on his side.

"Before I accepted the job, me and my staff studied the team," Pereira added.

"We need to improve some aspects of the game, but we have good players and a player with confidence can do a lot of things.

"In this moment, my idea is to create a tactical identity. In my first training session we started the work on this identity and our way of playing.

"With very clear communication, we go on the pitch and start to do the steps for this idea.

"We will try to put make the players comfortable in their positions and roles, this is what I'm trying to do."
