Much Wenlock teenager charges through field to secure maiden GB4 podium
Torrin Byrne stormed from 17th to his maiden GB4 podium.
Shropshire’s Torrin Byrne completed a stunning charge through the field to claim his first podium in the GB4 Championship.
Byrne climbed 14 places from 17th on the grid to finish third and claim his first piece of silverware of the season in race two at the championship’s third round at Donington Park.

The Much Wenlock teenager had shown impressive pace in the build-up to the weekend, having been among the quickest drivers during the championship's mid-season test at Snetterton.
It paid off for Byrne, who races for Shropshire-based Pace Performance, as he surged through the field to secure a maiden podium finish.
“It feels amazing, starting 17th and climbing to P3,” he said afterwards.
“I just kept it flat and stayed out of trouble, and it definitely paid off.
“I am really happy with that race. I think this is the pace that we have definitely had, and I am glad we are starting to show it.”

Byrne finished 15th in race one before producing a sensational recovery drive to claim third in race two. He completed his weekend with a 10th-place finish in the reverse-grid finale.
The results lifted the Much Wenlock teenager to seventh in the drivers’ standings.
Byrne’s podium capped a successful weekend for Pace Performance, with team-mate Josh McLean storming from fifth on the grid to victory in the third race.
Byrne will now look to build on his maiden podium when the GB4 Championship, a series for aspiring Formula One drivers, heads to Silverstone for round four between July 30 and August 2.
