Newtown boss bemoans 'atrocious' goal after latest defeat
Nathan Leonard bemoaned conceding two poor goals - as Newtown failed to back up a midweek win away at Holyhead.
Newtown’s stop, start 2026 continued as they were beaten two on the road in North Wales.

The home side were ahead after just 13 minutes when Tomos Owen set up striker Connor Owen for the opening goal.
Newtown did come back into the game with chances - but it remained a tight game until the second minute of added time.
They conceded a penalty and Tomos Owen tucked it home.
Leonard said: “It is frustrating because I don’t think we have played badly, like we have at times this season.
“Once we regrouped at half time and made a few changes, changed shape, we were good second half, but without working the keeper and it was a game of two halves with the wind.
“It certainly wasn’t a 2-0 game, it was on the case.
“We have conceded two horrific goals, switched off and without them the worst case scenario is it ends a 0-0 game.
“The two goals were poor, the first one was atrocious and comes from a ball on the halfway line.
“We don’t help ourselves.”
He also had a word for the officials - but said they were not the reason his side lost.
He added: “The officials were poor today, they were awful.
“Jamie Hyne is kicked off the ball right by the dugout and the linesman lies and says he has not seen it.
“Decisions were poor, throw ins the wrong way.
“It isn’t the reason we lost, we lost because we conceded two poor goals.
“But they officials were poor, and I don’t often say that.”
