Vitor Pereira insists he takes full responsibility for Wolves' dismal defeat to Leeds as he calls for supporters and the club to 'be together'.

Wolves remain bottom of the Premier League on zero points after a fifth straight loss, this time losing 3-1 to newly-promoted Leeds at Molineux.

It was a performance full of mistakes but Pereira refuses to lay the blame with his players.

"It's my responsibility," Pereira said.

"We worked a lot with them. We are talking about players that worked a lot in training to not commit mistakes, to be man to man without fear.

"But in the end, in one second, we concede two goals that we can avoid.

"It's a difficult time for us, but I know the way to increase, it's to work.

"Mentally I think we need a result to give us the confidence to not commit easy mistakes, to have more confidence in the box to score and sometimes it just takes a result to change everything."

Supporters voiced their frustration at Molineux with loud boos and chants against owners Fosun and club chairman Jeff Shi.

Pereira - who previously called for unity - has reiterated his message for togetherness if Wolves are going to drag themselves out of trouble.

"Me too, I'm very frustrated and I understand the feeling," Pereira added.

"We work hard and we like to see our team winning, playing good football and fighting, but this is a time that we need to be together.

"We need to help our players.

"It's not about me, it's about helping the team to be themselves, to fight and have confidence to play and compete."

Wolves took the lead through Ladislav Krejci before giving away three goals to a team that had not scored in open play before the game.

For the head coach, his frustration came at the negative performance after taking an early lead.

"This week we tried to work and correct some behaviours, to connect the players to be better today," Pereira said.

"We had conversations about having a good start because in the last game we started well but in the second half we started defending at Newcastle.

"We had conversations to mentally improve and create the spirit to win the game.

"After we scored the first goal, we stopped pressing and pushing the defenders. We started to go back in our block, conceding spaces and they scored.

"It will be very easy for me to come here and speak about mistakes, but I'm not this kind of manager, I prefer to speak about what I can improve in the team.

"We know we need to improve. I need to correct and improve my team.

"The first half we were not at our level. In the second half we decided to take more risks and play two strikers, with Munetsi behind them, and I think the second half was different.

"I cannot say it was at a high level, but not conceding what we did in the first half. We created chances to score, caused problems in the box and didn't allow them counter attacks.

"We tried everything to score a goal but it was not possible."
