"I don't want to think about these things" - Wolves defender not focusing on potential relegation

When Ladislav Krejci says he is not allowing himself to think about relegation despite Wolves' lowly position at the bottom of the Premier League.

Rob Edwards' side are 17 points off 17th-placed Nottingham Forest and are expected to drop down to the Championship this season.

Krejci will become a permanent Wolves player this summer after triggering terms in his deal, in an overall £26million package, and when asked directly if he would stay at the club in the event of relegation, he refused to entertain the prospect of going down.

"My mentality is that we have to do everything to finish the league in a good spirit and in a good way," Krejci told the Express & Star.

"This is the only thing we have to think about now. Anyone who is not thinking this way, for me, it's not good.

"So I don't want to think about these things because immediately you will put your thoughts in the long future and we have 15 games more and this is a lot of points.

"This has to be our motivation and our thoughts we have to put in. I understand for people who are outside of this, it's something they want to know or discuss, but this is not for us, for the players, that's my thought."

When asked if he is enjoying his Premier League opportunity, despite the club's position, he added: "It's amazing, I'm so glad.

"For me, I'm still just learning. I'm not saying this is right or this is wrong, because for me, it's my first season.

"I try to have open eyes and mind as much as I can and learn as much as I can to put it into other games, into other seasons and be the best of myself."

Krejci has played in several different positions this season across defence and midfield, but has found his home on the left of three centre-backs since Toti Gomes' injury.

The 26-year-old believes that is his best position, and when asked why, he said the club has 'much better players in midfield'.

"I feel that the best thing I can give to my team is some decision-making in the build-up," he said.

"Some calmness, some decision-making to give them time and space to pass to better positions, and we have much better players, in my eyes, in the midfield.

"They can be the ones who make a difference.

"This is what I feel in the team is my best position and I'm glad for the opportunities that I'm getting.

"I believe that I will help as much as I can and we will reach our goals."
