"Fosun are really keen to help" - Rob Edwards reacts to Wolves' leadership change

Rob Edwards is expecting better 'alignment' and 'communication' at the top after Wolves' leadership switch.

Executive chairman Jeff Shi left the club on Friday evening after almost 10 years in charge, walking away from his role with the club bottom of the Premier League on two points and staring down the barrel at relegation.

Fosun's Nathan Shi has taken over on an interim basis while the club identify and appoint a permanent replacement - although Nathan Shi could also be in the running for that role.

Wolves' loss to Brentford means they remain on two points and winless from 17 games in a dire season so far, but Edwards was hopeful of positive change with the switch at the top.

When asked when he found out about the news, Edwards said: "I was pulled into a meeting yesterday (Friday) afternoon and I was explained the situation and met Nathan.

"It was a quite a brief but positive meeting. The conversation we had was good, he wants to support and get alignment going forward into January.

"He then addressed the players this morning at the training ground.

"I don't necessarily think loads of changes will happen, but what was encouraging was that everyone will be aligned.

"Fosun are really keen to help. We're in a difficult situation right now, but they want the club to be in the Premier League, so they do want to help."

Matt Jackson recently moved into the role of technical director too, as Wolves make changes behind the scenes, and Edwards is expecting support moving forward as he aims to change Wolves' fortunes.

He added: "With everyone in the key decision-making positions, there will be regular communication and everyone will be aligned, whether that's signing players or players going, whatever that might be, especially in a key time like January.

"They want to support and help. We all know the position we're in, it's going to be a challenging window.

"It's difficult for the top teams to be signing players in January.

"But they want to help, they're supporting me and the team, so let's see moving forward how that goes."
