Wolves to host Spanish side Real Sociedad in pre-season friendly

Wolves have announced they will take on Spanish side Real Sociedad in a pre-season friendly this summer.

Rob Edwards' side will face the La Liga outfit at Walsall's Bescot Stadium on Tuesday, July 28, with kick-off scheduled for 7.45pm.

It marks the third pre-season fixture to be confirmed for Wolves as Edwards prepares his squad for the Championship campaign.

Wolves have never previously faced Real Sociedad, but they have come up against several other Spanish clubs in recent years, including Celta Vigo, Girona, Rayo Vallecano, Levante and Deportivo Alaves.

Real Sociedad finished 10th in La Liga last season, ending the campaign five points adrift of the final European qualification place.

Days before facing Wolves, Socieded will play Unai Emery’s Aston Villa at Bescot. Emery’s team will also face Walsall themselves at the same venue earlier in the week on Tuesday, July 21 (7.30pm).

Sociedad's clash with Wolves will come a week after Wolves' opening pre-season fixture against Maidenhead United on Tuesday, July 21.

The clash with the National League South side has been in the pipeline for two years after it was agreed as part of the deal that saw Max Kilman join West Ham United for £40million in 2024.

Wolves' pre-season programme will conclude in the Netherlands, where they will face Eredivisie side SC Heerenveen at the Abe Lenstra Stadion on Saturday, August 1.

The squad will also travel to Portugal for a warm-weather training camp during the summer, although no public fixtures are scheduled to take place during the trip.

The club has confirmed that a further pre-season fixture is still to be added to the 2026/27 schedule.

Ticket details for the friendlies will be announced in due course.
