Mick McCarthy today declared Wolves summer spending almost certainly over - 24 hours after clinching a deal for defender Michael Gray. With the experienced former England international now on board the Molineux boss feels he has enough strength-in-depth to mount a serious tilt for promotion from the Championship without making another move in the transfer market. Although McCarthy is unlikely to rule out another foray if the right player becomes available he thinks it is more probable that players will leave Wolves before the start of the season.

"More than likely that is an end to the summer spending now. I have got cover in all areas and I think we're just about done now because we are at a point where we have two good players for every position," he said.
"It might be the case that we have to lose a few now. We'll see what happens on that front - we've had nobody interested (in the available players) yet but we'll take a view if anything happens."
Thirty-two-year-old Gray became McCarthy's fifth summer signing when he penned a one-year deal yesterday, adding what the Wolves boss thinks is valuable experience to his young squad.
The Molineux chief thinks Gray still has plenty to offer to his side in the coming season.
"He is a good player first and foremost. Michael brings that bit of experience because we have got a very young team. There are some older heads like Gary Breen and Darren Ward but he's full of energy," he said.
"Of course I've worked with him before but I saw a bit of him last season and when he was at Leeds he was terrific."
The Wolves boss thinks another of his summer signings - striker Freddy Eastwood - is nearing match sharpness.
"Freddy was way behind in terms of fitness when he joined and he's getting there. He's trying to work hard on the field."
