Rob Edwards: Wolves' struggles will make good times "more rewarding"

Wolves are winless in five games in the Premier League - after drawing with Sunderland.

Wolves boss Rob Edwards says the club’s struggles will make the good times “more rewarding”.

The Old Gold fought from a goal down to draw 1-1 in their penultimate home game against 10-man Sunderland on Saturday.

That extended their winless run to five games - but at least arrested a run of three successive defeats in the Premier League.

Edwards has collected only five wins from his 27 games at the helm and has lost 15 in the process.

‘It will be all the more rewarding’

But the 43-year-old remains confident that better times are on the horizon.

He said: "I knew at some stage we were probably going to be in this sort of situation now. It is weird, you know, why do we put ourselves through it?

“At times you do think, like, why do we do it? But it will be all the more rewarding when we are able to turn things around.

“We're still the same people, we're still doing a lot of good work, it's funny you know, you go up against all the coaches and the other managers and they're all so positive about how we've done - because they understand the situation that we've been in.

“But that doesn't matter it's about winning football matches in the end and we haven't done that in the last four games, we've lost three and drawn one.

“So it’s understandable, but we’ve just got to stay strong and take it at the moment. People are happy when we beat Villa, we beat Liverpool, we came back against Arsenal, you know, and done the same against Brentford, so there were some good things there.

“We came back today, we showed some fight, we didn't go under and then we got to continue to work hard. Like I said before, it didn't help but I'm not going to complain about it, it was just the situation it was."
