Wolves full-back David Moller Wolfe tees up Erling Haaland World Cup history
Wolfe starred in Norway’s victory during their World Cup opener.
Wolves left-back David Moller Wolfe registered an assist for Erling Haaland in a 4-1 win over Iraq during their Group I opener at the 2026 World Cup.
Haaland grabbed a brace on his World Cup finals debut and Wolfe set-up the opener after following an overlapping run with a low feed for the Manchester City centre-forward.
A spirited Iraq fought back when Amir Al-Ammari levelled in the 39th-minute minute, before Haaland seized on a poor back pass to close down Jalal Hasan and score Norway’s second.
Wolfe, who made 26 appearances for Wolves last term, prevented Ibrahim Bayesh from restoring parity for Iraq before the break with a superb last-ditch block.
A late header by substitute Leo Ostigard and an own goal by Aymen Hussein in stoppage time sealed the win for Norway in their first World Cup clash since 1998.
Wolves striker Sasa Kalajdzic, who spent last season on loan at LASK, started in Austria’s 3-1 triumph against Jordan in Group J.
However, the 28-year-old was replaced at half-time with Austria leading 1-0.
