We need to come up with a Plan B, admits Wolves boss Kenny Jackett

Kenny Jackett admits Wolves must come up with a Plan B after being 'found out' by the Championship big guns.

In Saturday's 5-0 demolition at Derby, the 2-1 defeat at Ipswich last Tuesday and the 0-0 draw against Birmingham, the opposition have pressed Wolves really high up the pitch and targeted playmaker Kevin McDonald.

The double player of the year has been more shackled and not as effective in the Championship as he was in League One.

And head coach Jackett believes McDonald and his team-mates must find a different way to exploit the opposition.

The Molineux boss believes teams have started to work his side out in recent games.

"I think that's definitely happened to us tactically, and we haven't exploited the spaces in behind anywhere near enough," said Jackett.

"Sides have got top of us high up the pitch. Look at Will Hughes on Saturday, he didn't leave Kevin McDonald alone – he was on him all of the time.

"That has been a feature of recent games and it's something we have to solve and come through by passing it quicker and passing it better.

"If sides work us out a little bit, we have to come up with the next thing.

"But we have the ability and the character to fight back.

"It's just a question of working on things, people doing better, not getting caught on the ball at the back."

Jackett believes teams have identified McDonald as the man that make Wolves tick.

"It's a back-handed compliment in a way but no one is giving him any time on the ball and it's certainly been a feature," he said.

"He has to come through it and we have to be good enough to bring other options into our play."

Meanwhile, Jackett denied any enquiries for Crystal Palace's £6m record signing Dwight Gayle after speculation on social media over the weekend.
