'We have lost four points in 10 seconds' - Burnley boss frustrated ahead of Wolves clash

Burnley welcome Wolves to Turf Moor on Friday night.

Burnley may have climbed out of the Championship relegation zone - but boss Nicky Hayen remains frustrated by his side’s start to the season.

After a disastrous start to the campaign, where they did not win any of their first eight matches, the Clarets were on course for back-to-back wins when they led Charlton Athletic 2-1 deep into stoppage time on Tuesday.

However, the Addicks equalised in the sixth minute of stoppage time as Mesik’s shot crept past Gregoire Coudert despite the home goalkeeper getting a hand to his attempt.

Head coach Hayen - whose side still climbed to 21st in the table - said: “For 95 minutes and 40 seconds we were winning our duels and blocking shots, but the game lasted 96 minutes.

“We already had an example of this against Derby. We have lost four points in 10 seconds. That is frustrating because in a brutal league like this, four points are really important.

“I’m not going to fingerpoint anyone today.

“We have to analyse all the goals we have conceded in stoppage time and how we can manage that better.

“There were also a lot of positives today. At the moment we are also in a situation where we don’t have the luck.

“It would have been a really important win, especially as we have Wolves on Friday. It still can be a positive week if we can win that game.

“I’m feeling sad also because the players deserved the win. It was not the same performance as Watford, we were not cool enough.

“At the start of each half the players were in overdrive, but it is because they were trying to do it too well. When we played on our quality, we created chances and scored two good goals.”

Wolves haven’t won at Turf Moor since March 2010.
