He will be in the stands for this afternoon's friendly against Swansea City.

First-team coach Rob Edwards will take charge, with Wolves confirming that assistant boss Joe Gallen has also left the club.

Zenga then officially starts his new role - which as with Jackett, will be as head coach - on Monday morning at Compton Park.

Zenga's many former clubs include Steaua Bucharest, Red Star Belgrade and Serie A sides Sampdoria and Palermo.

As a player he won 58 caps for Italy - including during the 1990 World Cup - and played hundreds of games for Inter Milan.

Fosun's Wolves supremo Jeff Shi said: "We're delighted to appoint Walter as the new head coach of Wolves.

"He has an excellent track record both as a player and as a coach, and a wealth of experience he can bring to his new role at Wolves.

"Walter is a hugely passionate personality who lives for football and is fiercely determined to succeed in everything that he does.

"We are looking forward to working with him, and supporting him in the shared aim of trying to help Wolves achieve promotion back to the Premier League."
