'The level of intensity is different' - Toti Gomes on Wolves' pre-season training

Toti Gomes spoke to Liam Keen at Wolves’ pre-season training ground in Portugal.

Toti Gomes has praised the level of ‘intensity’ in training as Cesar Peixoto prepares Wolves for the Championship.

The players are being put through regular running drills and double sessions in the Portuguese sun this week during their pre-season training camp.

Many of the club’s senior players have praised the difficulty of the sessions as Peixoto focuses on improving fitness for his high-pressing style.

And Toti has noted the difference in the intensity to previous pre-seasons as the squad get ready for the second tier.

“We’ve had a very good first impression,” Toti said.

“They came with some good feelings and brought a good environment to all of us.

“We've been working hard since the first day of the pre-season.

“They’ve brought some new ideas and especially work without the ball because it’s good for everybody to stay fit.

“That's one of the messages they've been passing to all of us, it's important to be fit and to prepare well for the season.

“There’s a lot of games coming and everybody needs to be prepared.

“It doesn't matter who's going to be playing or not, but we need everybody to be fit.”

“You can feel the level of intensity is different,” he added.

“It's one of the messages that the gaffer has been passing to us and of course training in this heat makes it even harder to train sometimes.

“But I think everybody's been doing very well in the training with the gaffer and trying to put the ideas on the pitch.”
