Steve Bull: Wolves attacking FA Cup with conviction

It was a difficult game, but Wolves got over the line against Brentford in the end and that’s all that matters.

Sometimes you win nice and sometimes it’s horrible. Both teams huffed and puffed and we came out on top, which I think was well deserved.

It could have gone either way. Both teams hit the post and had chances, but at the end of the day it came down to that late penalty.

Matheus Cunha reminds of me Raul Jimenez when he’s taking a penalty. Cool, calm, collected and you know it will end up in the back of the net.

There was a few stand-out players. Tommy Doyle had a good game again, Joe Hodge did a good job too after coming in from the cold to play.

Pedro Neto looked sharp as well. He looks ready to go in the Premier League.

Mario Lemina looked a little bit sluggish but that’s understandable after what he’s gone through recently, so I wish him all the best.

I was pleased for Nathan Fraser, it was brilliant. A local lad who got his head down and put his foot through the ball, it was a great goal!

He was unlucky not to get two as well because the goalkeeper made a fabulous save on his second shot.

Hopefully there is more to come from him, but we need to break him in gently. Don’t chuck him in at the deep end and give him time.

The manager has got to get this right with him because he could be an exciting talent.

That win now sets up the Black Country derby and it really is a mouthwatering tie for everyone in the area.

But before that Wolves have to travel to Brighton and we always have a tough game against them. They have a good team and manager, but we’re only a couple points behind them now.

I still think it’s early to be talking about Europe, however. It wasn’t long ago we were thinking about survival, so just concentrate on what we can control and keep picking the points up.

Take it game by game and see where it takes us.
