Steve Bull: Right time for Wolves to move Daniel Podence on

Players come and go and it was the right time for Daniel Podence to depart.

There was a bit of unrest, he wanted to play football and if they’re not going to use him, you might as well let him go play somewhere else.

If it’s best for both parties, then fair play. He’s a very talented player but he doesn’t fit in at Wolves now. He’s a class player who went off the boil.

Looking back at the Crystal Palace game, it was frustrating. We look a bit threadbare – very thin on the ground. We’re lacking a bit of experience in the squad. When we went behind some of the younger lads dropped their heads and that’s where you need some of the experienced lads to rally them.

We did show we can come back from 1-0 down, but our heads went when we went 2-1 down.

It was disappointing because I felt we could go there and get something out of the game. Palace will probably be around mid-table and that’s the level we have to get to.

It was good to see Hwang Hee-chan score. He’s a bright spark and it was a good goal. It may have come off his shoulder but I’ll take any goal at the moment!

He’s showing the other players that despite being on the bench, he is ready to go.

Gary O’Neil is still dipping his toe in the water with the team at the moment and it will take a bit of time, but if it was down to me I’d change to a back three.

With a back four we’re getting caught out. Doherty is on the bench as a wing-back, but he causes more problems in the opposition box than in our box and we need to get him on.

The fire power and pace we have is unbelievable, if we change to a back three, with three midfielders and two strikers. But whatever decision the manager makes, we have to get behind him. Looking at the transfer business overall, I was glad we got some players in towards the end. Had we not got them, I think we’d have been in trouble.

You always need depth, but I also think we needed more experience. It’s a young squad.
