Kenny Jackett is confident of success at?Wolves
Head coach Kenny Jackett today insisted Wolves can have a successful season – as the chase for Kevin McDonald dragged on.
Jackett was highly encouraged by Saturday's opening home performance against Gillingham when goals by Leigh Griffiths (2), Lee Evans and Bakary Sako gave them a 4-0 win.
"I think there's encouragement there for the players that they can do it and have a successful time," said Jackett.
"That's probably the best message internally.
"It's a transitional period, which is needed after the last couple of seasons, and it has to turn into good performances, as it did on Saturday."
As for the chase for McDonald, the Sheffield United midfielder still has elements of his medical to finish off.
It's understood the Blades have made a counter offer to try to keep the 24-year-old, but it doesn't match Wolves' package.
"That's ongoing," said Jackett.
"We're in talks and working away but the deal for Kevin McDonald is some way off being complete.
"We're looking to bring players in."
