Dave Edwards: Where do Wolves need to strengthen this summer?
It is due to be a big summer for Wolves and the evolution of their team.

A lot of Wolves’ transfer business will depend on who leaves the football club, but with the squad as it is now, centre-back is a position that definitely needs looking at.
We saw it at the end of the season with a few injuries and Nelson Semedo having to occupy that right centre-back spot.
It’s obvious Gary O’Neil likes playing with three at the back and it really suits Wolves.
They look a lot more comfortable in that formation and adding another experienced centre-back would be beneficial, especially if Craig Dawson misses part of next season.
Max Kilman has been a beacon of consistency this year, he’s getting better every year and becoming a leader himself, but there is a noticeable difference in his performances when he has experience alongside him. We saw that with Conor Coady and also Dawson. It allows Kilman to play at his absolute best, when it’s not all on him to organise everything in front of him.
Signing an experienced centre-back would really help as it adds some depth. Also, possibly someone who is not expecting to play every week, can be used when needed and is good around the group.
Yerson Mosquera is coming back and I do think he will play a big part next season.
He’s had a really good loan spell in Spain this year and the profile of player he is will really suit how Gary O’Neil wants to play.
Someone who can press aggressively and then have the pace to get back when balls are played over the top. We’ve seen Toti Gomes do that numerous times and Mosquera is now in a position where he can come back to the Premier League and make a name for himself.
His physical attributes really suit the Premier League, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see him play a lot more next season.
He would be an additional centre-back, but I think it would also help to add an experienced player too.
Elsewhere, Wolves have plenty of options in the forward areas if everyone is fit, but they are missing a number nine.
Hwang Hee-chan is the most obvious fit of the players they have with how he runs in behind and holds the ball up, but he can play across the front line.
Getting an out-and-out number nine, someone who plays there every week, would be huge for Wolves.
It would bring the best out of the other players. Someone who can occupy centre-backs and create space for the more technical players.
You then want them in the box to get on the end of everything.
The numbers from the front players were excellent last season and far exceeded anything we’ve seen in the last two or three years, showing positive steps under O’Neil in creating chances.
That can only get better with a number nine. It’s a great opportunity for someone to come and score 20 goals, because they will get chances.
They will also play a lot, with good quality around them providing chances. It’s a brilliant opportunity for a striker.
But, they’re so hard to find. It may have to be a calculated risk with who they go for, it may not be a proven Premier League player.
It’s an area they need to address as they’ve not had someone that fits the mould since Raul Jimenez, and we saw how effective he was when he was fit and firing.
Someone of that ilk would take Wolves to another level, but they’re extremely difficult to find.
We’ll also have to see which players may leave. Pedro Neto, Joao Gomes and Rayan Ait-Nouri will all have their suitors and I’m sure O’Neil will want it sorted as soon as possible so he knows what he has to work with.
