Dave Edwards: A picture perfect Wolves performance for all at Molineux to enjoy
What an unbelievable way for Wolves to bounce back after that disappointing night at Portman Road.

Everything they did was pretty much perfection. From the game plan, the tactics involved and then the players carrying out those tactics, it was a joy to watch.
You could see Man City getting frustrated right from the first whistle. Wolves were defending deep and narrow and there were no gaps between the units.
Man City kept probing but once they got around the box, there was a sea of gold shirts around the ball.
The concentration needed from the players would have been huge. I’ve been in games like that where the opposition are waiting for you to switch off, and it takes it’s toll mentally and physically, but the players were fabulous.
You also have to give a huge amount of credit to Gary O’Neil, because he set the team up in that way. He opted for a back five and to keep some pace on the counter-attack, and it’s important to always maintain some threat when you play Man City.
The way Cunha was dropping into pockets, with the pace of Hwang and Neto, it was excellent.
The discipline the players showed, the desire and intensity they played at, matched with the Molineux crowd, it all worked in perfect harmony.
It was brilliant to see. Wolves and Gary O’Neil needed a result like that to lift the spirits and the fans really believed in what they were seeing on the pitch. That positivity was flying around the stadium, on to the pitch and into the players’ legs and minds. It was one of those special afternoons at Molineux which we have had over the last few years, but maybe we’ve not had one for some time. It was well worth the wait.
There were some big calls to make with team selection and the best one was playing Craig Dawson in the middle.

He controlled his team-mates around him to create a strong spine and put in an absolutely exceptional performance. He never gave Haaland a sniff and was really clever.
I had a good view of it from the gantry and as Haaland tried to take Dawson away, or get touch tight to him, Dawson didn’t get into any wrestling match.
Mario Lemina and Joao Gomes were brilliant, as were Max Kilman and Toti Gomes and the two wing-backs. Nelson Semedo’s best game in a Wolves shirt was at Old Trafford, but I think he topped that here.
Neto was the star of the show again with some world-class wing play. The pace he shows and his composure in the box, he was brilliant. Hopefully he can keep improving.
I don’t think, aside from maybe the Brighton game and the starting XI at Luton, that Gary O’Neil has been found wanting tactically.
He’s put in good game plans for every match and made changes to affect the game. He deserves a huge amount of credit, especially with the circumstances he walked into at the football club. He’s done a pretty stellar job, he just needs the points on the board.
He’s impressed me and if he can back it up with two big games coming up, Wolves will be in a better place. The Villa game looks after itself as a derby and the Bournemouth game away is a huge one for Gary O’Neil and the team after the international break.
