'Amazing performance' - Wolves boss full of praise for goalscoring star

Fer Lopez netted twice against Preston.

Wolves boss Cesar Peixoto has hailed Fer Lopez’s ‘amazing performance’ after his brace against Preston.

The Spaniard put on a starring display with an impressive opening goal following a solo run after just eight minutes, before adding Wolves’ third in the win at Deepdale.

Peixoto enjoyed everything about Lopez’s display, but in his usual style he was quick to recognise the whole team’s efforts and call for further improvement.

He said: “Amazing performance, but they need the team to work with them, to put the ball between the lines for him, to manage and attack the space, to give the space to him. They did a great job, they have a lot of quality.

“For Fer, his challenge is to put this kind of quality (into the game) during 90 minutes. I think they feel comfortable with our idea of the game, our structure and he did a great job today.

”He wants to learn, he wants to improve. He knows what he has to improve and understands the game well. He's a clever player, I think he's a good player for the team.

“He's a team player, also he's important for me, but he does well, he does his job like we normally do during the week.

“But I think the most important thing is the team. The team today stayed organised with the ball, without the ball, all the time.

“They know the right space to attack with the ball, put the right space between the lines, play with the ball.

“The important thing is the team stayed, during 90 minutes, at a good level.

“But it's not enough because we have a lot to improve.”
