Who are West Brom's two 17-year-olds handed a pre-season chance by Carlos Corberan?

With the majority of Albion's pre-season schedule behind closed doors, it is difficult to gauge who is hitting the ground running and impressing in pre-season.

So far Albion had been beaten by Bolton Wanderers and picked up a win over Peterborough United in their two friendlies during their pre-season training camp at St George's Park.

There are a few takeaways we can gather with the likes of Ousmane Diakite, Torbjorn Heggem and Joe Wildsmith all been given their first outings.

The games have also seen the likes of Mo Faal and Caleb Taylor, players who returned from loan spells at the end of last season, being given a chance to impress.

Youngsters who have spent time around the squad last season have also been thrown in, such as Fenton Heard and Reece Hall.

But there are two up and coming young 17-year-olds who are lesser known, but have already played a big part in the opening pre-season games.

Forward Ollie Bostock and midfielder Cole Deeming, who both only penned their first professional contracts in March this year, have played 90 minutes each across the two games, after impressing Carlos Corberan in pre-season training.

Albion's commitment to the two teenage youngsters was underlined back in March this year, when they were handed their first professional deals just months after starting their scholarships with the club.

Both youngsters have already made an impact with in the academy and youth football, which has no doubt led to them making the jump to sign a pro deal at such a young age.

In the case of Deeming, who hails from Sutton Coldfield, began last season in the club's under 18s before making a quick and rapid rise to the PL2 side, scoring on his debut against Everton in December.

Something of a dead ball specialist, Deeming has already netted a number of times for the under 18s, as well as getting on the scoresheet for the PL2 side.

Deeming has come up the Albion ranks alongside Bostock and is a Wales youth captain who has been at the club since the age of six.

Originally from London, before moving to the West Midlands at an early age, the forward was picked up by Albion at an early age and has enjoyed a successful rise through the ranks.

Progressing to the club's under 18s, he also established himself on the international stage by captaining Wales' under 17s at the European Championships.

His progression continued last summer, moving up to the under 21s and his performances at that level led to him penning a professional deal in March.

Both have seemingly already impressed Corberan enough to be involved in not only his pre-season training plans, but the opening two friendlies.

Whether they will still be around the first team squad come the end of pre-season and the opening game of the campaign remains to be seen.

There are other youngsters who have either spent last season at the club or out on loan, who will be above the two 17-year-olds in the pecking order.

However, there seems to be an excitement around the two teenagers from those at the football club.

And even if they aren't on the fringes of the first team picture after pre-season - given the faith that has already been put in the pair, it is highly likely we'll be seeing more of them again in the future.
