West Brom player ratings: Frontman one of several to shine in Bromley win

The Baggies signed off from a Portugal pre-season tour with a fine 4-1 win over Bromley.

The Express & Star rates the Baggies performances as James Morrison’s men down League One new boys Bromley 4-1.

MAX O’LEARY

Not overly stretched other than getting close to Adeboyejo penalty. A couple of off-target pieces of distribution, but comfortable.

Comfortable 6

ALFIE GILCHRIST

Struggled early on with a few passes that got away but Bromley couldn't capitalise. Cautioned after infringement for penalty. Grew into game.

Improved 5

NAT PHILLIPS

One piece of sloppy possession in own box but otherwise comfortable and was the one winning battles aerially for his side.

Dominant 6

GEORGE CAMPBELL

Looked very composed for his maiden run out this summer. Sharp with everything he did with the ball, just one erroneous pass.

Cool 7

CALLUM STYLES

Started the game particularly well on the front foot with sharp interplay with Price and Morgan. A good run out for the left-back.

Lively 6

HARRY WHITWELL

The only academy graduate youngster handed a start, out on the slightly more usual right flank. A couple of situations did not come off but Whitwell was honest and kept running at the defenders. Fired over before sub.

Persistent 6

OUSMANE DIAKITE

Swept up very nicely in a busy display in the heart of Albion's midfield. Not the creator to make things happen but did the dirty work well.

Workhorse 6

ALEX MOWATT

One of his side's standout performers in the first period in which he played. Used the ball really well and was always on the move. Purposeful display.

Impressed 7

ISAAC PRICE

Very bright from the off. Looked strong, some sharp feet and excellent passing. Involving in first goal and low cross for second.

Sharp 7

JIMMY-JAY MORGAN

Reports are promising and he continues to look a fine prospect with a second goal in two pre-season games. Finish for the opener was excellent. Bright feet, good energy and vision for a pass. Likes to link it.

AUNE HEGGEBO

Unable to sort feet for what should have been the opener but worked hard and got his reward just before interval as he did well to scramble home.

SUBSTITUTES:

Matt Ingram (O'Leary, 45) A spectator throughout. Claimed one cross well and held on to strike from range. 6

Chris Mepham (Phillips, 45) Composed display from the centre-back who helped reduced Bromley to very little. 6

Krystian Bielik (Campbell, 45) Ditto, Bielik and Mepham got their clearances and headers right when they had to. 6

Alex Williams (Gilchrist, 45) The academy graduate right-back really caught the eye with a busy, purposeful display. He got stuck in and tried to attack too where he could. 7

Jayson Molumby (Mowatt, 45) Perhaps not as involved as he'd have liked, but put in a good shift in the middle of the park featuring a lot of the dirty work. 6

Cole Deeming (Styles, 62) Started at left-back then shuffled into midfield. Busy and got himself around, one overhit free-kick and one good strike. 6

Matty Crowther (Diakite, 62) Some welcome limelight in front of supporters for the 18-year-old. Played midfield and then left-back, can be happy with progress. 6

Souleyman Mandey (Whitwell, 62) Some really purposeful play from the Austrian. Caused problems down the right with some decent delivery. Bagged assist and could have had another. 7

Ollie Bostock (Price, 62) Lively cameo from the left-sider, who put late header over and made the fourth with great interception, burst and cross. Looked sharp. 6

Barney Stewart (Morgan, 62) New boy got involved and found the back of the net with a composed, sharp finish. Willing runner. 6

Jack Bray (Heggebo, 62) The 19-year-old converted a fine finish to show the Baggies fans what he is about. Tidy effort. 6
