West Brom handed major boost ahead of Sheffield Wednesday final day clash

A sell out crowd is expected at Hillsborough on Saturday.

Sheffield Wednesday have been hit with a blow ahead of their clash with Albion on the final weekend of the season.

The Hillsborough club, who have been on minus points for most of the season after going into administration, are hoping to give their fans something to shout about ahead of relegation to League One.

A sell out crowd is expected on Saturday as Albion come to town - with the Baggies fans set to be in party mode after securing survival.

James Morrison’s men are aiming to make it eleven games unbeaten - and they have been handed a boost ahead of the game.

Wednesday’s injury news this week has revealed that key man Svante Inglesson has been ruled out of the game.

The 27-year-old Swedish midfielder is regarded as one of the clubs best players - and in the past has been reportedly linked to Albion.

The Baggies were one of a host of clubs loosely linked with the midfielder in January - amid a string of Championship interest.

He looks likely to move on from the club this summer - but he has played his last game for the Owls.

Having missed recent outings with a knee problem, it was hoped he may return for the final game of the season.

But manager Henrik Pedersen told the Sheffield Star: “No, he will not be available.

“But he will be fit in the next two or three weeks so he can do all what he has to do in the pre-season.”

It came as the midfielder shared the Owls’ player of the year accolade with Liam Palmer, who received an outstanding achievement award for making over 500 appearances for the club.

The Owls boss heaped praise on the pair, adding: “Svante and Liam have been two fantastic humans in our group through the whole season.

“They have been two players who really have made standards for what is okay, what is not okay, and also when things are difficult.”
