West Brom goalkeeper agrees new three-year contract
The shot-stopper moved to the Black Country on a short-term deal in January
Goalkeeper Max O’Leary has put pen to paper to extend his stay at Albion as the club’s first business of the summer.
The 29-year-old moved to the Baggies from Bristol City in January and played an important role as James Morrison’s side eventually secured Championship safety.
He secured eight clean sheets in 16 league appearances, including five on the spin between March and April, as the Baggies pulled clear of the drop.
O’Leary, a Bristol City youth graduate, was rewarded for his displays by being offered fresh terms at the end of the campaign.
And the shot-stopper has agreed a three-year contract to tie him down at The Hawthorns until 2029.
O’Leary won his second international cap for Republic of Ireland after the Championship season’s conclusion. He played 74 minutes in his nation’s 5-0 friendly victory over Grenada in May.
Albion released understudy Joe Wildsmith in their end of season business but also have academy graduate Josh Griffiths, who has reportedly caught the interest of league rivals Stoke, in their ranks.
Promising youngsters including Ben Cisse and Joe Wallis are also pushing for a breakthrough.
