West Brom fitness teaser as key man returns to training ahead of Sheffield Wednesday finale

The Albion skipper endured an injury set back ahead of Albion’s recent clash with Wrexham.

Jed Wallace played a big part in Albion’s early revival under James Morrison - before being struck down with a calf injury.

Albion turned the tide of their fortunes against the likes of Sheffield United and Southampton - with Wallace starring in wins over Hull and Bristol City.

Those results gave a shot in the arm to Albion’s survival chances - but Wallace was then ruled out prior to the 2-2 draw with Wrexham.

The Baggies continued their form without Wallace - as they secured survival twice in a week against Watford and then Ipswich.

Back when Wallace first picked up the injury - Morrison admitted he ‘could have cried’ when he heard the news, because Wallace played a key role in the revival.

Speaking at the time he indicated that Wallace may return before the end of the season.

He said: “I could’ve cried last week when he picked up the injury because he’s been superb for us and he was a big miss on Friday.

“He pulled his calf in training, so fingers crossed he may be back for the end of the season.

“Seeing him go down, I could’ve cried. He’s arguably been one of our best players with the way he’s been driving the team, his balls into the box and then his personality as our captain, so it’s up to someone else now to step up and take his place on the pitch.

“I asked him to keep doing his role from the sidelines, get the lads going and we need to be together. I don’t want anything different from his positivity.”

Heading into the season finale, there could well be a boost for both Morrison and the winger himself.

Albion have been in training ahead of the final game of the season against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.

Wallace has been pictured in training for the Baggies as they look to finish the season strongly.

Although he has not been pictured training with the team - images have shown Wallace doing individual running at Albion’s training base.

There is so far no indication whether Wallace will be part of the squad at Hillsborough - with Morrison set to speak to the press on Friday where he will give an update on Albion fitness issues.
