West Brom boss 'cannot speak' on behalf of owners regarding future questions

Ryan Mason says he "cannot speak for" Albion owners Bilkul as to whether they back him to arrest the club's run of form.

The under-fire Baggies head coach maintained after the late 2-1 defeat at Leicester - a 10th consecutive away reverse - that he has felt the board's support throughout his time at the helm.

Albion, 18th in the Championship, succumbed to a sixth defeat in eight games and double figures for straight losses away from The Hawthorns as the hosts' Abdul Fatawu lashed in a volley deep into stoppage time.

It further increased the scrutiny on Mason, who said his only focus is on improving things.

"I can't speak for anyone else," Mason replied when asked about belief from the owners. "I've felt support the whole time.

"My job is to try and get results and to continue to work and try and continue to build this club back up to where we want to be."

Albion owner Shilen Patel was not present at the King Power Stadium but plans to be at games later in the month.

Mason continued: "Obviously our situation is tough in terms of some of the business that we've had to do and some of the business we've done, but I think the reality is we shouldn't be where we are.

"I could play this season out another 10 times and we'd have a lot more points than what we've got now from the performances that we've had.

"Sometimes football can be harsh and you can be incredibly unlucky and we're in a spell where I just don't feel like we're getting anything for what our performances deserve."

Albion fans were vocal throughout in the east Midlands clash in a half-empty King Power Stadium due to home fans keeping away in protest.

The Baggies looked the most likely at 1-1 but the late hammerblow led to loud chants against Mason.

He said: "They were amazing and I think everyone in the stadium today would have felt our fans were incredible.

"Listen, we've lost the game at the end and there's frustration - I accept that. That's normal. But what you probably don't mention is for the 94 minutes they were immense. They were amazing. They're supporting a team.

"I'm devastated they are going home with nothing."
