Relegation odds, Opta predictions and why tonight could have a big say in West Brom's Championship chances

West Brom have four games remaining to ensure their Championship safety - but that doesn’t tell the full story.

West Brom have gone seven games unbeaten in the Championship - but their survival is far from secure.

The Baggies have been revived under James Morrison - and currently sit three points above the relegation zone.

They have four games remaining to ensure their safety - but there is now a caveat to that after it was reported they were facing a possible points deduction for breaching profit and sustainability rules.

The outcome of that and the process of it is yet to be revealed - and may well mean they go into the summer still not knowing their fate.

However, aside from Albion’s games and potential points deductions, this evening represents a massive moment in the Baggies’ survival chances.

That is because two of Albion’s rivals to avoid the drop are both in action.

The fixtures represent Portsmouth’s game in hand as they take on promotion challengers Ipswich Town.

Pompey are now just a point off Albion after their late win over Middlesbrough, and a win for them on Tuesday evening would leave Morrison’s side just a point above the drop zone.

Elsewhere, Blackburn Rovers travel to Southampton with a lot riding on the game. The Saints are pushing for the play-offs, while Blackburn can go six points clear of the bottom three with a win.

A victory would also see them put even more daylight between themselves and Albion - it could potentially be five points by the end of the game.

New survival odds - what are the bookies saying?

The odds on Championship survival have fluctuated somewhat and they have been impacted by the alleged PSR breach news that emerged on Monday.

Leicester are now 2/7 on to go down - while Oxford are just above them on 4/5.

Portsmouth are still 7/5 before this evening - while Albion, despite being two points behind Blackburn, are on the same odds at 9/2.

But that could well change over the course of this week, should the midweek results go against Albion.

Opta have also put their predictions out for the end of the season - and they have predicted Albion will finish on 51 points.

In terms of the table that would see them finish in 20th, two places and two points above the drop zone.
