'Not in our favour': Why Millwall boss Alex Neil is angry with West Brom Friday trip
Managers being irritated by fixture scheduling is a regular occurrence in the Championship.
Albion’s former boss Ryan Mason was a regular earlier this season when it came to having a swipe at the EFL over fixture congestion.
He did have a point with Albion facing some big away midweek trips - which other sides had seemed to avoid.
And heading into the clash with Millwall on Friday night - the Lions’ boss Alex Neil has put the boot in on EFL bosses.
Millwall suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Norwich City on Bank Holiday Monday - and travel to The Hawthorns for the first of three evening kick offs in their final five games.
Millwall don’t play at 3pm in any of their remaining games, with back to back away trips to Stoke and Leicester remaining.
And he has voiced his frustration and believes it is ‘not in his side’s favour’ ahead of Friday’s clash.
He told the Southwark Press: “That’s been a frustration of mine.
“I’ve voiced my opinion on it. In the next four games, we play before the teams immediately next to us in the league, so they know what our result was, which I don’t think is helpful for anybody. Certainly not helpful for us.
“The fact that they’ve brought our other game forward onto the Friday means we get one less day’s rest. Again, we need to travel twice in one week, and we’re away twice. It’s certainly not been in our favour, let’s put it that way.”
