Eric Ramsay admits 'hope' for transfer window after West Brom capitulation and calls to 'feel the fire'
Boss Eric Ramsay is hopeful Albion can bolster their squad in the wake of the Norwich thrashing - but insisted patience is the name of the game this month.
Albion are yet to act in the transfer window despite having seen injured loan midfielder Toby Collyer recalled by Manchester United, as expected, at the beginning of the month.
Club president and sporting director said before Christmas that financial constraints will mean for a winter window of minimal business for Albion, though the club are expected to bring in one loan signing at a minimum.
Ramsay, whose second game at the helm ended in a successive home defeat with an historic and disastrous 5-0 thrashing from the Canaries, suggested any business is expected later in the window due to deals elsewhere and above Albion still in works.
"I'm hopeful that is the case," Ramsay replied when asked about strengthening his squad.
"There is good work that is going on behind the scenes and I walked into the situation knowing what the constraints were.
"The nature with this window is that things move with a flurry as you get toward the end.
"I think we have to be patient in that sense and focus on what we've got in front of us and make sure we're doing the best by the group that we have here and now."
Asked about the task of trying to lift heads and avoid negativity after such a slump, he replied: "It's going to be a huge challenge but it's a challenge I was well aware of.
"I knew the feeling around the place, of course, that's why I find myself here. I know that it's been a difficult period that extends beyond the season, for all involved.
"An unhealthy way for me to think and be at the moment would be to get too drawn into that, because my job is to make sure day-to-day there is a sense a positivity, that day-to-day we feel we can move through this situation.
"I told the players at the end of the game - it is one of those cliched situations where the only way is through, there is going to be difficulty to play at home, there is going to be anxiety there, it is going to be tough to play away because the away record is not great.
"So we have to bring the elephant to the front of the room in that sense. Players now have got to start to feel the fire and use it in a really positive way."
