Black Country derby ticket update as West Brom make 'surprised' quip ahead of Wolves trip

Tickets for the hotly-anticipated derby went on sale earlier this week.

Albion tickets for next month’s Black Country derby at Wolves have sold out.

Supporters rushed to snatch the hottest ticket in town this week after they initially went on sale on Monday.

James Morrison’s visitors will be backed by 2,550 supporters at Molineux, in the lower tier of the Steve Bull Stand, on Sunday September 20 for the lunchtime kick-off.

Tickets first went on sale to away members on Monday, before staggered availability to Albion loyalty points holders of varying quantity. The club confirmed a sell-out on Friday morning, as they quipped “can’t say we’re surprised”.

The hugely-anticipated clash is the first league Black Country derby in front of supporters since the 2011/12 Premier League season.

Peter Odemwingie thrashed in a hat-trick as the travelling Baggies won 5-1 at Molineux in 2012.

Wolves were victorious in the only public fixture between the arch-rivals since. The visitors prevailed as FA Cup winners in January 2024 in a tie at The Hawthorns marred by supporter violence.

The sides met in the behind-closed-doors top flight campaign of 2020/21.

There were rumours next month’s league clash would be a ‘bubble fixture’, with extra guidance and restrictions from the authorities when it comes to travel and logistics, but no such details were outlined by the Baggies when tickets went on sale at the beginning of the week.

The return clash at The Hawthorns takes place on the weekend of February 20.
