West Brom close in on Stewart deal

West Brom are close to finalising the seven-figure signing of striker Barney Stewart from Falkirk.

Reports in Scotland claim the final details of the deal are being thrashed out.

The 22-year-old is said to have travelled to the Midlands on Friday for talks and agreed terms on a four-year contract.

The deal is also reportedly set to include a number of future add-ons for Falkirk.

Interest in coach

Albion are reportedly interested in recruiting Celtic first-team coach Gavin Strachan.

The 47-year-old has been a key figure behind the scenes at Celtic since arriving six years ago.

He has worked under several managers, including Neil Lennon, Ange Postecoglou and Brendan Rodgers.

Villa linked with goalkeepers

Aston Villa are reportedly battling Manchester United for Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki.

Villa are assessing potential replacements for Emi Martinez, who continues to be heavily linked with a move to Juventus.

The club have also been keeping tabs on Real Sociedad goalkeeper Alex Remiro.

Remiro, who has been capped twice by Spain, is among several shot-stoppers under consideration.

Guirassy linked with Midlands move

Villa are being linked with Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy.

Unai Emery’s side are reportedly considering a move for the Guinea international, who has scored 56 goals across two seasons for Dortmund and is also said to be on Tottenham’s radar.

Speculation was rife that Guirassy had agreed a move to Turkish giants Fenerbahce, only for his brother and agent, Karamba Guirassy, to deny the claims in comments to Sky Sports.

Rashford future uncertain

Barcelona’s option to sign former Villa loanee Marcus Rashford for €30 million (around £25.5m) has expired without the Spanish club making the England forward’s move from Manchester United permanent.

The 28-year-old will officially return to United on July 1, a development that could open the door for Villa to pursue a deal.

However, Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Newcastle United and Tottenham have also been named as potential destinations for Rashford, who is currently involved in the Club World Cup.
