The New Saints are hoping to improve in final third
The New Saints will be bidding to bounce back from a shock home defeat and get their Welsh Premier challenge on track when they go to Aberystwyth Town tonight.
The defending champions suffered a surprising 1-0 loss to Newtown at Park Hall last Saturday, a defeat that cost them top spot in the table.
But head coach Carl Darlington is confident TNS will pick themselves up for tonight's trip to Park Avenue, which has proved a happy hunting ground in recent seasons.
"Aberystwyth represents another tough game for us, but we have been working hard this week on our decision making and how we can break down teams," he said.
"Obviously we were very disappointed to lose to Newtown, but it was not our day. It was not a case of us not playing well.
"We must have had over 70 per cent of possession, but we lacked that bit of quality in the final third.
"We had more crosses into the box than I can remember but we were let down by some poor execution from wide and we were a bit predictable at times.
"Playing away at Aberystywth is always a tricky game, they have got some really good individual players and we can take nothing for granted.
"But we don't want to dwell on last week. The important thing for us is to look at ourselves and make sure we improve and tweak parts of the game which let us down last week."
The Saints will ponder making changes as they bid to rediscover their scoring touch.
Four TNS players appeared for Wales Under-23s, but the Welsh side lost their final game in the International Challenge Trophy 5-0 to Turkey.
Defender Kai Edwards, midfielders Chris Jones and Aeron Edwards, along with forward Alex Darlington, were in the side playing a Turkey team drawn from the visitors' Super Lig.
