Town's Knight-Percival thrilled at nomination

Shrewsbury Town defender Nathaniel Knight-Percival admits he is thrilled to have been nominated for the League Two Player of the Month award.

The former Peterborough centre-back, whose consistency has earned him the nickname 'Rolls-Royce' from his team-mates, has been in outstanding form since signing for Town in the summer.

Knight-Percival has been nominated for the December gong along with Wycombe Wanderers striker Paris Cowan-Hall, Burton Albion winger Alex MacDonald and York City midfielder Luke Summerfield.

But he feels any of Shrewsbury's defenders could have been recognised after they went through the entire month without conceding a league goal.

"It's a lovely thing to be recognised but I think it's an award any of the back three could have been nominated for," Knight-Percival said.

"We didn't concede any goals in the league during December so it's nice people have taken notice.

"But it's a team game and we all work very hard for each other.

"We have that will to keep clean sheets. It's a mentality that runs through the whole team and starts from the front."

The winner of the award will be announced on Friday, but Town boss Micky Mellon believes his defender deserves it.

"It's great news he has been nominated and so he should be," he said.

"He has been sensational ever since he came in here. Both on and off the pitch he has been fantastic for us and we are delighted to have him."

Meanwhile, Mellon has confirmed loanees Bobby Grant and Josh Passley have returned to Blackpool and Fulham respectively, while Dave McAllister is back at Town following a spell at Stevenage.
