The 26-year-old picked up a serious-looking knee injury in Salop’s 1-0 win over Fleetwood Town at the weekend. It occurred in the eighth minute when challenging Fleetwood defender Shaun Rooney for the ball. He received treatment at the time and although he tried to solider on he had to be replaced.

He was later seen leaving Highbury Stadium on crutches with a brace on and now Town need to see what the damage is to Shipley who is set to have a scan on today.

They are already struggling in that position as George Nurse, the club’s most likely first-choice left wing-back was ruled out for the season with his second ACL injury in successive seasons.

The club then signed Mal Benning from Port Vale as cover in that position but it now looks like another one of their options in that position could be set for an extended period on the sidelines.

When they do get the results of the scan they will need to act quickly in the transfer market if they need to find a replacement as the window shuts on Friday evening at 11pm.

Matt Taylor has said Town do have funds available to spend if they need to. Shipley played a huge part in Town’s successful season last year making more than 40 appearances in his first season in Shropshire since joining from Coventry City on a permanent deal.
