Shrewsbury Town player ratings vs MK Dons: Eight 5s as Salop thrashed

Shrewsbury Town suffered a 5-1 loss at MK Dons in League Two - here's our player ratings.

Will Brook

Endured a punishing afternoon, repeatedly picking the ball out of his net. Faced relentless pressure from ruthless MK Dons attacks, and was unable to prevent their comfortable victory.

Helpless, 5

Nick Freeman

Combined well with Kabia down the right and showed attacking intent, but struggled defensively against MK Dons’ tricky wide players, finding it hard to stem the flow of pressure.

Committed, 5

Will Boyle

Tried to restrict The Dons under sustained pressure. But it was a disastrous display for Salop as he was beaten for Paterson's first-half hattrick. Nearly grabbed a goal with a header, but could not prevent MK Dons’ constant attacking waves.

Beaten, 6

Luca Hoole

A difficult task against high-quality forwards. Was beaten by Paterson for his first goal before conceding an early penalty that put MK Dons out of sight and set the tone. Was unable to keep the door shut like against Harrogate a week before.

Booked, 5

Sam Clucas

Faced a tough challenge matching the pace and movement of the hosts’ attackers. Provided Salop’s best first-half chance with a fierce low drive that tested the goalkeeper.

Determined, 5

Ismeal Kabia

Showed energy and directness on the right, drawing fouls and consistently looking to make things happen. Supplied dangerous crosses, though teammates struggled to capitalise.

Lively, 6

Josh Ruffels

Had some positive moments going forward, but from advanced positions was often caught out as MK Dons broke quickly, unable to halt their sweeping counter attacks.

Battled, 5

Taylor Perry

One of Salop’s brighter performers in a difficult match, showing creativity from midfield. Improved after the break, spreading play well and linking effectively with the wide players.

Inventive, 6

Iwan Morgan

Picked up a booking for a late challenge and followed with further fouls. Showed flashes of creativity, but could not replicate the influence he had during his home debut against Harrogate.

Frustrated, 5

John Marquis

A quiet afternoon leading the line, starved of clear chances. Tried to link play and make things happen when involved, but rarely threatened the MK Dons goal.

Isolated, 5

Trey Ogunsuyi

Received limited service and found chances hard to come by. When opportunities arose, MK Dons’ defence reacted quickly, preventing him from turning possession into genuine goal threats.

Restricted, 5

Subs: Tom Sang (for Morgan, 72) 8, Temple Ojinnaka (for Perry, 72) 6, George Lloyd (for Ogunsuyi, 72) 5.

Not used: Cox, Anderson, Lee, England.
