Shrewsbury Town 'have nothing to fear at Leyton Orient'

Shrewsbury Town manager Graham Turner today told his side they have "nothing to fear" for their first trip of the League One season to free-scoring Leyton Orient.

The Os welcome Town to Brisbane Road tomorrow having hit five past Carlisle on the opening day, before a 3-2 Capital One Cup first-round win at home to Coventry in midweek.

But Turner believes the way his players applied themselves in their own Capital One Cup tie at home to Championship club Bolton, before losing 3-1, should give them heart.

Orient have also leaked three goals in their opening two games, one at Carlisle, while Town managed to keep a clean sheet in their curtain raiser against Milton Keynes Dons.

Turner said: "They are good going forward, as their goals-for column would suggest, but perhaps a bit suspect at the back. We know what to expect going there.

"If we can go there and show the confidence on the ball we have in the first two games, there's nothing to fear about going to Leyton Orient."

The Town boss has ruled out defender Dave Winfield and striker John Marsden for six to eight weeks, after scans on a hamstring strain and broken foot respectively.

Attacker Graham Burke could make his debut, with the formalities of his youth loan from Premier League club Aston Villa until January expected to be completed today.

Turner said: "He's just a very good footballer, he can play off the striker or out wide, where he has been used for most of his time in Aston Villa's set-up.."

Turner was also turned down by a Championship striker, thought to be Bolton forward and ex-Shrews loan star Tom Eaves, yesterday.

* Shrewsbury Town's home derby matches against Wolves and Walsall have both been brought forward to 1pm kick-offs on the advice of the Football League and the police.

Wolves are first at the Greenhous Meadow on Saturday September 21, before the Saddlers are the visitors on Saturday December 14.
