Shrewsbury Town 1 Port Vale 0

A Matt Richards thunderbolt helped Shrewsbury Town move a step closer to promotion to League One.

Richards struck with a 25-yard effort in the 55th minute to earn Town victory in the game which was re-arranged following a fire in the original fixture last month. Town also led 1-0 when that game was abandoned after 64 minutes.

An open game saw the woodwork struck three times by James Collins and Mark Wright for Shrewsbury and Sean Rigg for Port Vale.

But Town were worthy winners of the derby and now have a four point buffer over both Torquay and Crawley with three games to play.
