Shrewsbury strikeforce search for Town boss Graham Turner

Shrewsbury Town boss Graham Turner today admitted his team needs more firepower in attack.

Turner's side will head into this weekend's home clash with Carlisle winless in seven league and cup games, having failed to keep a clean sheet in any.

They have also let a lead slip on four of those occasions but they have managed just eight goals in nine League One matches so far.

And Turner said that more goals would help ease the pressure on Town's rearguard.

He said: "We have got to start keeping clean sheets, especially when we have gone a goal up.

"But having said that sometimes you need that second goal just to settle the team down. We got it against Swindon (in Town's last win) and never had a problem with them.

"Sometimes it just takes a little bit of pressure off players at the back when you get that second goal so it is a bit of both at the moment.

"If we can get a settled defence and just add a little bit more firepower up front we can still have a good season."

The departures yesterday of loan strikers Curtis Main and Graham Burke back to their parent clubs, Middlesbrough and Aston Villa, will not have helped in this area.

But midfielders Paul Parry and Jon Taylor, who were missing last weekend with a hip injury and a one-match ban respectively, should both be available this Saturday. Both can play up front if required.
