No feud at Swindon for visiting Shrewsbury

Shrewsbury Town boss Graham Turner will not let James Collins' controversial capture by Swindon nor last season's tempestuous clash at the County Ground distract his players.

Collins, who scored 16 times during Salop's promotion campaign, turned down fresh terms at the Greenhous Meadow last summer.

Town were angered when a tribunal set a fee of £140,000 for the former Aston Villa youngster, who is not guaranteed a start in Paolo Di Canio's ever-changing line-up.

Turner said: "I don't know if he will play tomorrow, the manager there makes different decisions.

"James was brought off last Saturday after missing a chance, so it could be anybody's guess what their team will be.

"But it's all about us concentrating on what we want to do rather than the opposition. We mustn't get too uptight about our rivalry last season.

"Obviously, they took James from us and there was a little bit of ill feeling after we lost the game at the County Ground, after what I thought were poor refereeing decisions.

"But that's all gone and what we've got to do is focus on the game itself and not let anything get in our way."

Shrewsbury had a second-half penalty shout from Terry Gornell turned away before going down to a 2-1 defeat on their last visit to Wiltshire.

And, while Swindon have adjusted better to life in League One and are currently 16 points better off than Salop, their progress may have come at a cost.

Boardroom changes have put pressure on Di Canio's large budget and, as owner Andrew Black is unwilling to put in further funds, there are fears the club could be forced into administration.

Di Canio's teamsheets hint at the heavy spending undertaken in his season-and-a-half stewardship.

Chris Martin and John Bostock are expensive loan signings while Collins and strike partner Andy Williams, who played under Turner at Hereford, are among the combinations the Robins have lavished cash on.

Turner said: "Swindon are a big club in this division, but the tendency is for us is to rise to the occasion and that's what we have got to do again."
