Town have accumulated 19 points out of the last 21 on offer to stamp their authority on the race for a top-three finish.

And Wroe believes Town have produced some of their best football of the campaign over the past six weeks.

"Mid-season, the pitches slightly deteriorated which didn't suit our play," said the former Torquay man.

"They are recovering now and we have had quite a few slick surfaces rceently which suit how we play.

"There are not as many bobbles, people can have a touch and we are doing well.

"We are really gelling now, especially the front two (Terry Gornell and James Collins) who are working hard and combining really, really well."

Wroe admitted last night's derby success against Port Vale was a little too open for comfort at times. But he was delighted Shrewsbury earned the points after seeing victory in the original fixture snatched away when the game was abandoned due to a fire with the hosts leading 1-0.

"We just need to get the results at the moment and we will take 1-0, especially after what happened last time," he added.

Last night's victory has also left Wroe closing in on a personal promotion hat-trick.

"I've been up with Torquay from the Conference and was part of the Barnsley squad that went up to the Championship and it's brilliant," added the 26-year-old.
