Matt Taylor discusses whether Shrewsbury Town could recall Tom Bloxham from Morecambe loan

Tom Bloxham's thoughts and feelings will be taken into account when deciding whether to recall him from his loan spell with Morecambe, says Matt Taylor.

The youngster has had a very successful spell in Lancashire so far this season.

So much so that with Shrewsbury Town's injury crisis, questions are being asked about whether he may return to the club in January when the window opens - something that still has not been decided yet.

"We have had partial conversations about it," the head coach said.

"I have got to speak to him. What I do not want to do is say we have made a decision as to how that looks because we have not as of yet.

"There are still conversations that we need to have internally, and we also need to take Tom's thoughts and feelings into account.

"This is not just 'he is our player and we will do what we want with him'.

"I am a firm believer that it is what is best for Tom Bloxham and what is best for the football club because he is our player and we firmly see that he has a future here.

"That is where we are with that at the moment."

Shrews currently have nine senior first-team players missing through injury so Bloxham returning to Shropshire would be a welcome boost going into the final stages of the season.

"We have had lots of conversations," Taylor continued.

"In these scenarios, when players are out on loan at different clubs.

"What you have got to do is you have got to take all of the player's needs the club's needs and everybody's opinions into it.

"The one thing I will say is that Tom going out on loan has been really successful for him.

"While I understand he is our player, and he has come through here, the loan has served a really good purpose because he has played a lot of football in League Two.

"He has scored goals, he has increased his level of consistency, he has played for two managers as Derek (Adams) has left.

"Derek was brilliant for him, and now he has another challenge with another coach and another manager so I think for his development it has been wonderful.

"We spoke about the time he missed out on in terms of development last season."
