Luke Rodgers an illness doubt for Shrews trip

Shrewsbury Town striker Luke Rodgers is a doubt for tomorrow's trip to Bury because of illness.

Town boss Graham Turner hasn't ruled out the forward from his plans, but he has put Ryan Doble and Tom Bradshaw on standby for the game at Gigg Lane.

Despite scoring just once since returning to Shrewsbury on loan, Rodgers has livened up an attack that had been struggling to score goals in previous months.

Turner said: "Luke has been ill for a few days, but we are still hoping that he will be fit to play at Bury.

"We have only lost one game in five since he has been part of the team and he has worked hard and combined well with Marvin Morgan."

Rodgers' loan from Portsmouth is due to be converted into a permanent deal once the transfer window opens.

Midfielder Luke Summerfield is targeting a return to action in time for the League One clash with Hartlepool on January 12th.

Summerfield underwent surgery to cure his hernia problem yesterday and Turner said: "He's targeting January 12th and I think that's possibly a bit optimistic.

"But I want players to set themselves targets so I am hoping that he will recover well and be ready."
