Leeds v Shrewsbury - Match preview
Matt Taylor has promised changes to Shrewsbury Town’s team for tonight’s trip to Leeds will be aimed at giving them the best chance of causing a Carabao Cup upset.

The boss is planning to shuffle the pack for Town’s first trip to Elland Road for 11 years but has ruled out wholesale changes, in part because the relatively small size of his squad makes it impossible.
But while his team head north as big underdogs, Taylor is determined for them to put in a strong performance which can continue the momentum started by Saturday’s season opening win over Cheltenham.
He said: “We will make a couple of changes but we will make the changes we believe give us the best opportunity of competing in the game and then the best chance of competing on Saturday.
“There is the opportunity to have a look at a few players we have not seen so far this year.
“But we can’t make that many because of where we are the moment in terms of injuries and some players being ready and others aren’t.
“You formulate opinions based on your eyes and what the numbers tell you and the video tells you every time you watch training back. I’d like to think we have a clear idea now on the players and what their strengths are, where they can improve.”
Taylor confirmed Jordan Shipley would be available after recovering from the dead leg which forced his early withdrawal from the win over Cheltenham, though new signing Max Mata is still awaiting visa clearance following his switch from Sligo Rovers.
The boss has warned his players they must be prepared to “suffer” on a night where they will likely see far less of the ball than in a League One fixture. But he insisted the overall gameplan will remain similar. Taylor explained: “The way we want to play will alter but now wholly because if it does we will come away from our principles, both with and without the ball. There is no way I want to do that.
“If you do, I think you send the wrong message to the players. I am expecting us to go and perform.
“It’s a different challenge for our players but I think we have the skills to deal with it. Let’s go and try to win the game.”
Town were beaten 4-0 when they last visited Elland Road at the same stage of the competition in 2012.
Taylor added: “When I look at some of the players who haven’t played in stadiums like that, what an opportunity to go and pit yourselves against players who last year were gearing up for a Premier League season.
“We understand we are the smaller club and nobody expects us to win. But that doesn’t bother me, our staff or players because what we have in the building is really positive. If you take the technical and tactical aspects away from Saturday, what they produced in terms of effort, grit and desire are the things which win you matches, coupled with the ability you gave beyond that.”
