Jon Taylor eyes home improvement for Shrewsbury Town

Shrewsbury Town midfielder Jon Taylor is aiming to help Town banish their 'disgraceful' home record when they welcome Crawley tonight.

Shrewsbury's 3-2 defeat against Bristol City at the weekend made it nine matches without victory at the Greenhous Meadow.

And Taylor, who is the club's six-goal top scorer, said: "It is obviously disgraceful that we haven't won there for nine games but we have just got to not think about it.

"I thought the fans were excellent on Saturday and we need them with us again tonight.

"Hopefully they will cheer us on and we will win the game – and that is what need to do."

He added that there remained plenty of belief that Town still can win their relegation battle particularly if they can take a much-needed three points off Crawley.

He said: "I don't think there is any point in playing football if you don't have belief that you can do something for the club. But you have got to wear you heart on your sleeve and do something about it.

"You can't just take a game and let it fly past you. You have got to grab it with both hands and do something for you and the club.

"We have got to forget about what happened on Saturday and we know what we have got to do tonight."

Meanwhile, Shrewsbury youth team midfielder Matt Jones has made a temporary switch to Ellesmere Rangers.

The second-year scholar is set to figure for the West Midlands League outfit in their clash with Wolverhampton Casuals tonight.
