Jack Grimmer would stay at Shrewsbury

Defender Jack Grimmer insists he would welcome the chance to stay at Shrewsbury Town beyond the end of this season.

The Scottish right-back, who turned 22 yesterday, is on loan from Fulham to the end of the season.

Grimmer is under contract at Craven Cottage to June 2017 and wants to prove himself in the Championship.

But, after looking impressive in his two loan spells with Town, he would like to make it a hat-trick.

He said: "That's always a possibility. In my short career so far I've found you can never rule anything out, so I'd definitely be open to that.

"I feel settled here, I've played good football here and with the management and staff, I feel really happy.

"I couldn't have asked for a better reception when I signed for the club again.

"I've got to the end of next season on my contract so I've still got time, it's not like my contract's up this summer."

Meanwhile, Grimmer insists Saturday's 2-1 win at Burton will be wasted if Town don't follow it up at home to Oldham tonight.

He said: "The manager keeps saying consistency is what we're lacking, so no-one is getting carried away. It was a great performance, but it doesn't mean much if we lose tonight.

"We've got that first step to build some momentum. We thought that would be Cardiff but this league is unforgiving and if you're off your game you get punished, which Barnsley did.

"They'll be eager to win but if we play the way we can and want it more than them, we'll win."
