Graham Turner: Shrewsbury Town need to wise up

Graham Turner wants his Shrewsbury Town team to "wise up to game situations" as they continue to come to terms with life in League One this season.

The manager saw his side ship a late goal for the second time in three games on Saturday when Lee Hughes snatched a 3-2 win for Notts County with three minutes of normal time remaining.

That blow came just two weeks after Tranmere grabbed an equaliser in the closing stages at the Greenhous Meadow through Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro's 88th minute finish.

Turner admitted it had been disappointing to lose their last game late on and he said it was important that pattern was remedied.

"Most of the stuff this season has been very acceptable but we had a very slow start to the game on Saturday," he said.

"After the first 15, 20 minutes, I thought we got a foothold in the game and got into one or two interesting positions, but we've got to wise up to game situations.

"If you go 2-1 up then you've got to make sure the next five or 10 minutes are crucial.

"And if you are 2-2 with minutes to go, you've got to come away with something.

"The concern again is we've conceded another late goal. We did against Tranmere which cost us two points and we've done the same at Notts County.

"That is basically a concentration situation. It's another thing we've got to look at and aim to put right."

Meanwhile the Town boss said he was pleased to see striker Tom Bradshaw come off the bench to play the last half-hour for Wales under-21s against the Czech Republic on Monday night.

"He's had a bit of game time," he said. "It is good experience for him and it hasn't inconvenienced us in any way.

"Sometimes you get to the stage when it's international week and we can lose players for a match or two.

"But in this case he was able to join up with Wales after the game at Notts County and obviously we were pleased that he got some game time."
