Gavin Cowan explains Will Boyle’s omission in Bromley defeat
Boyle was left out of the Salop side to face League Two leaders Bromley
Gavin Cowan outlined the reasons behind Will Boyle’s omission from the Shrewsbury Town squad for their trip to Bromley.
Cowan made one change to his side for the defeat against the League Two leaders, with defender Boyle left out of the squad and Tom Anderson coming into the starting XI.
The Salop boss confirmed Boyle’s absence was not injury-related, explaining that the defender was rested as he sits one booking away from suspension.
Cowan said: “He's good. He's a booking away from a suspension.
“He's had a lot of football recently. We just felt as though it was a good time to bring him out, in light of the next four games.
“We certainly didn't want him getting booked tonight. Obviously, going up against a big, strong lad where it's easy to get booked.

“So (it was) strategic, but equally, it gives other people a chance to show they want to be a part of the team and the football club and gives them an opportunity.
“We're constantly looking at being efficient around the players and making sure that we understand what they need.
“Boyle's played an awful lot of football recently. So, with the booking situation, we just felt as though it was a good opportunity to bring Anderson in, who did really well in his place tonight.”
