Dave Edwards: Long term Wolves target would be perfect for Shrewsbury
If Nathan Fraser is available, I really think Shrewsbury could be the perfect club for him.

It is relatively local for the Wolves striker and he would be pretty much guaranteed game time with things up in the air at the moment with Shrewsbury’s striking options.
Dan Udoh has been offered a contract but it hasn’t been signed yet and the longer that goes on, you have to think his future may lay elsewhere.
Fraser will really give Paul Hurst something which he’s had in previous times at Shrewsbury, which is a target man who’s mobile.
Carlton Morris is a good example of the type of striker Hurst has used before.
Fraser is very composed and a big lad, but he’s still athletic and will run the channels.
As a target man, it would give Town a real outlet. He’s a goalscorer and has done it at youth levels, as well as a couple in the first team.
He always looks to be in and around the box, and with Town playing wingers and getting the ball into the box, it could really suit him.
Shrewsbury are light at the top end of the pitch and they need to try and find the right players.
They’ve brought in George Lloyd and adding Fraser would offer a different option.
For Fraser’s skillset, and for him getting experience in League One, I think it would work well with what Hurst wants from his number nine.
He could have left in January with Shrewsbury among a number of clubs interested and I know they were desperate to get it over the line, but Wolves had their injury problems and Fraser couldn’t leave.
He ended up playing a lot of football in January and February and then found his chances harder to come by after that.
He’ll feel like he’s lost a little bit of time but getting that experience of playing in the Premier League and big FA Cup games will boost his confidence.
But at his age, playing football and developing is really key. First loans don’t always work well, but sometimes it works perfectly.
I have a foot in both camps at Wolves and Shrewsbury so for Wolves, I hope Fraser develops, gets better and scores lots of goals and I hope he can be that goalscoring answer at Town this season.
It could be a tough season unless the recruitment is spot on but the early signs are good. Fraser would add to that and he’s definitely a player who can score double figures and beyond if he gets the chance – hopefully a deal can be done.
The loan market will be so important for Shrewsbury – it’s where their season will be make or break.
They’ve signed some good quality, hard-working League One players so far. You need that, players that won’t let you down and are durable.
But what will take Town from a lower end League One team to possibly having a chance of fighting further up the table is the quality of the loans they can bring in from bigger clubs.
A lot of these signings won’t happen until later in the window when the Premier League and Championship clubs know what their roster of players will look like.
We’ve seen it work so well for Shrewsbury in the past with good players who have made a big difference.
Getting those signings right will be key for Town. The right person at the right time could really add to the squad, but you don’t want to waste a loan signing on the wrong player.
