Crawley 1-1 Shrewsbury Town - match report

A penalty save from Chris Weale and a superb Aaron Wildig volley earned Shrewsbury Town a 1-1 draw at Crawley.

Tom Bradshaw should have made it 1-0 to the visitors after six minutes only to side foot wide from close range from Jon Taylor's rebound.

Luke Summerfield also went close with a fizzing low drive midway through the half.

But at the other end only a Connor Goldson block denied Billy Clarke an opener, and Nicky Adams then drilled a gilt-edged chance wide from a tight angle.

Three minutes before half time Darren Jones was judged to have hauled down Adams in the area conceding a penalty.

But Chris Weale did superbly to turn Clarke's low effort round the post to ensure the teams led in level at the break.

And Wildig gave them the perfect start to the second, volleying Town ahead less than two minutes in.

The lead lasted 17 minutes before Andy Drury headed home from Adams' cross.

Curtis Main then missed a great chance to put Town back in front, heading over from Bradshaw's cross but Crawley substitute Emile Sinclair could have nicked it for the hosts in stoppage time.
