The injury problems get no easier for Shrewsbury Town as 2024 is about to kick off.

Salop have had a very challenging couple of weeks on the results front and also with their availability.

The squad is decimated. There is no other adjective that can describe it but Matt Taylor needs to put a team together to try and get a result come Friday night at Burton.

But how will his squad look? And who will he have to choose from?

Taylor Perry 80 %

The midfielder picked up a cut on his shin against Cheltenham and had to come off. It sounds similar to what Elliott Bennett had recently and he patched himself and played on. I would expect Perry to do the same given how short Town are.

Dan Udoh 50 %

The striker picked up a knee injury in the second half of the Boxing Day clash. Although he tried to play on, he was unable to shake off his knee problem, and with it being such a tight turn he might not be fit.

Jason Sraha 30 %

The defender has been out with an ankle setback but head coach Taylor said last week he was back on the grass. But he has warned it is unlikely anyone will be back for the Burton clash.

The midfielder is edging closer to a return and has been seen with his boots on with Jason Sraha before games to do work with the physio Chris Skitt but this clash still might be too early for him.

Brandon Fleming 0 %

Taylor said last week that Fleming has suffered a setback with his rehab and he is not going to be available for the festive period. The head coach described the Hull City loanee as a big miss.

Tom Flanagan 0 %

Not expected to be in contention until later in January at the earliest after a knee injury. Has been on co-commentary with the BBC during his lay-off and has been very articulate.

Ryan Finnigan 0 %

Has been forecast for a return next month after the ankle injury he picked up in training in late September. The on-loan Southampton has played just once in the league on September 16 and has had some treatment with his parent club.

Kieran Phillips 0 %

A three-month lay-off due to a knee injury in November sees the forward not scheduled for a return until February.

George Nurse 0 %

Encouragingly has made progress and is now running on his way back from a second ACL injury but is still some way off a return. Boss Taylor praised the versatile defender's attitude this week as he continues his rehab.
